My favorite extant critter is Alligator mississippiensis.
Something about them just speaks to me in a way that even other crocodilians do not. They're relatively relaxed and I don't feel any primal fear toward them.
That being said, there is really no critter I have any animosity or great fear of. Just a general respect of them.
